Learn To Row Program

The Kelowna Rowing Club has multiple certified coaches to help you experience the fun of rowing on Lake Okanagan. It’s surprising to us how many people think rowing is some kind of elite sport only suitable for those with Olympian dispositions and strong backs - not true!

Age range is from teens to seniors, from racing to just enjoying the water in a single or with a crew of 4. No special aerobic training is required- just regular folks who want to experience the fastest human powered craft on the lake.

The LTR program begins on a stationary rower (ERG) to help teach the basic rowing sequence but quickly progresses to the lake in our single or double training shells fitted with pontoons.

From one of our Coach boats over a series of 6 1.5 hour sessions we will help you become proficient at the rowing stroke while gaining confidence on the water in a rowing shell.

Upon completion you have the bragging rights to say you are now a Novice Rower or if you like you can apply the cost of your LTR training towards a club membership (making your LTR lessons free) and row for the entire season!

If this sounds like fun you can continue with the registration process below.

How does the Learn to Row program work?

The program begins with a land session on a stationary rower (ERG) to teach the basic rowing technique. As you progress, you'll transition to the water in our training shells, accompanied by our coaches in coach boats. Over six sessions, you'll learn and refine your rowing skills while gaining confidence on the water.

What happens after completing the Learn to Row program?

Upon completion, you'll have the skills and confidence to consider yourself a Novice Rower. You can choose to continue rowing by applying the cost of your Learn to Row training towards a club membership, essentially making your Learn to Row lessons free. This allows you to row for the entire season and become part of our rowing community.
